| Hawick Pipe Band had a rather
unsuccessful day at Innerleithen Lothian & Borders branch competition winning
only the prize for Marching & Discipline. Our congratulations go
to Tweedvale, Newtongrange, Penicuik & District, and Stow pipe
bands.
Decimated somewhat from our
previous competition at Hawick, all of the band members felt that we
played exceptionally well in both grades, some even thought that our
performances were better than that of our successful stint at the Hawick
Highland games. Pipe Major Cammy Renwick was thoroughly delighted with
both performances and said after our grade three performance that he was
happy with our sound and how we played it, but not to hold our breath as
this competition has never been kind to us. Something tells me that
Cammy has crossed swords in the past with old cloth ears himself, I wont
say which one. It is strange though, that so much contradiction
can be written on the piping sheets and I'll give you a for instance.
Judge 1 "Poor intro, searching for E's Judge 2 Fine intro and well
executed" It makes you wonder if one of them is actually listening to
the same band as the other, hell even our Bass drummer Aggy Glendinning
got a mention in the piping sheets for having too fluffy drum sticks, however in the interests of not having HPB
black balled from future Lothian & Borders Competitions I shall say no
more on the matter. Below you will see the summary's of
Grade Four and Grade three only. This time there are pictures to be had
as you will see below. |
